Can Psoriasis cause hair loss?

Psoriasis is not a life threatening or contagious disease, but has no known cure and can be both uncomfortable and unsightly. Over one half of all psoriasis sufferers also suffer from psoriasis of the scalp’ which not only cause dry, flaky skin but can also lead to hair loss unless treated.

Scalp Psoriasis treatments

A number of treatments exist for scalp psoriasis. Some provide a temporary respite from the dry flaky skin. Others are effective against the sever itching that can result from the condition.

Itching

The reason scalp psoriasis can cause a severe itching is due to the buildup of dry, flaky skin. The itch can be extremely irritating and resisting the urge to scratch can be almost impossible. However, excessive scratching of the scalp can cause irreversible damage to hair follicles. Whilst psoriasis hair loss is usually temporary, if the hair loss is caused by follicle damage, the chances of hair regeneration are slim.

Treatments to alleviate the itching include many commercial compounds and creams. One 100% natural remedy with no apparent side effects, are minerals extracted from the Dead Sea and contained in Dead Sea mud. Is there a cure?
